Trust your gut
by: Marianne

If there's one thing I've learnt on this journey is to trust my instincts. If something doesn't feel right, then it's not. In my experience, continuous therapy has been useful, however, if you are organized, and have the financial means to do so, you could hire an educational or special needs assistant (2 to 3 times a week for 30-45 min) to carry out the programming activities during your "break" periods. This was very successful for us. And remember, if your child clicks with someone, that's worth gold.

Hard Choices......
by: Anonymous

Is it possible at all to do both? If so, I would do as much therapy as possible. If not, is it possible to start with the new therapist a few sessions while holding your spot with the old therapist and seeing how her approach works? I personally wouldn't be real happy with the 3 month on, 3 month off schedule, once you get a consistant routine with the therapist you don't want a break and then have to start all over again. When my daughter was that young just taking a two week break for Christmas was too much for her.

3 months on/off
by: jana

I would continue speech therapy if you can. Maybe your current therapist could give you an outline of things to work on for the 3 months that he's off. Read all you can about apraxia-it's tricky. He'll probably make a full recovery since you caught it so early!! Any speech therapy is better than none and you have to constantly be working on it with him too. It's exhausting-but what choice do we have? Good luck!
