Finding a balance
by: Marianne

Remember, 70-90% of the MOST SEVERE cases have full recovery, so chances are, your daughter will make it. The way I look at it, is that the next 2-3 years will be intense in order to get my daughter where she needs to be. The most important thing in all of this is that our kids have confidence. Not that they speak as soon as possible, but that they are happy, well-adjusted individuals. They will eventually speak, but if we break their spirits on the way, we are worst off the we ever were. Achieving the right balance is key. Structuring your week to allow for 3-5 sessions of practice (including the therapy session), 1-2 mediated play dates, and participating in a loved hobby (like swimming), has been successful for us. And yes, the Listening Program, Fish oil, minor diet changes, and the Astronaut Protocol, have been helpful.

supplements help!
by: Anonymous

I would start with getting her on a good quality fish oil supplement, such as Nordic Naturals. It's hard to add in too many new things all at once and keep going on them. You are lucky you have a diagnois, that is half the battle, take your time & do research - chances are good since she was caught early for a full recovery.
