My son is 2 and was just diagnosed with Apraxia today. I teach students with special needs all the time, and thought my family was immune to it. I want to help him just as much as I help my students, but I am not sure how to help him:( Scary and sad at the same time, but hopeful with my background that I can help him get a voice.
It is always a shock and a moment you will forever remember, when your child is diagnosed with something wrong with them.
You are lucky to have a background in special ed, to have extra knowledge to help your child and know your way around the education system in order to get your child the help he needs.
There is a lot of hope with the diagnosis of apraxia, your child is young, with time and effort he will talk someday.
