About fish oils...

In response to Jana, we are trying the Speak supplements as well. So far, in our experience, it's been amazing. If your child's Dr. is worried about the amount of Vitamin E in the supplements, perhaps it is warranted to contact the company, and discuss your concerns with one of their staff pediatrician researchers. If you are still uncomfortable with the product, how about just sticking to a regular fish oil supplement like Nordic?

It is important to know this. I too have been concerned about the high dose of vitamin E in Speak and wondered if some other kids were having problems with it. Glad to hear your child is doing better now.

SPEAK Supplement
by: Anonymous

My 2.5 yr. old son took one capsule a day of the SPEAK supplement for 14 days. He had very loose stools that went away after a week. A little over a week he started to exhibit some very disturbing side effects from it. He smelled terrible...very fishy. We washed his bedding and clothes several times over and they still smelled bad. When we became really concerned was when he started to begin these violant tantrums lasting for around 45 min. each time where he was trying to hurt himself....thrashing everywhere and banging his head on the wall and floor. He then started to stick his hands down his throat to vomit. The last straw was when he started to wake up in the middle of the night screaming and thrashing everywhere for close to an hour at a time. At this point...I stopped the supplement. It took almost a week for him to return to his old self. I know a lot of people have had success with this supplement...however, I just wanted to let everyone know of our experience so that they know the potential of having a negative outcome.
